Lance Luce - Plummer Wurlitzer
Sunday, September 14, 2008

I had the opportunity to play the Wurlitzer at the Plummer
Auditorium in Fullerton, California.  The organ is terrific,
and sounds great in the large room.  It is an original
installation from Wurlitzer, not moved from another
location.

It's hard to believe that this is the auditorium of a High
School, but it is.  The building is beautiful inside and out.
It has been "earthquake proofed" at great expense, so it
should be around for a long time to come.

The members of the Orange County Theatre Organ
Society maintain this beautiful instrument, and host a
regular concert series.

Don Near was the master of ceremonies, Jim Henry
provided the multi-media support of bouncing-ball
sing-along and silent movie.  Ed Bridgeford, Bob
Trousdale and Henry Hunt rounded out the welcoming
committee :)

The concert went very well, the audience sang great in
the sing-along, including the "new" song we taught them
"Get Out and Get Under."  The song was the same name
as the 1920 Harold Lloyd movie, so it fit the theme
perfectly.  The attendees laughed at the short comedy
movie featuring Harold Lloyd and his beloved Model T
Ford.

I had a great time, and I hope to do it again someday!!

The picture above and below is a
"Fresco" painting on the side of the
building.  It had been painted over at one
point, and years later, the paint was
carefully removed to reveal this mural.
